What is Children’s Book Week?
"Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running literacy initiative in the country. Each year, books for young people and the joy of reading are feted for a full week with author and illustrator appearances, storytelling, parties, and other book-related events at schools, libraries, bookstores, museums, and homes from coast to coast!"

I absolutely love Children's books, right from Picture Books up to YA, they are filled with so many possibilities. There is something magic about books anyway, but children's books have that extra spark for me.
No matter what your age I believe you should still be able to enjoy Children's books.
For this Giveaway I will offer a choice of one of 3 books from my favourites for each category- either a Picture Book, a Middle Grade Novel or a YA fiction. i.e one winner will win one book from one of the categories. Giveaway is International
So starting with youngest first here are the Picture Book choices:

ReplyDeleteAs a child I loved all of Astrid Lindgrens books. When I was in my teens I devoured Eoin Clofer's books about Artemis Fowl.

ReplyDeleteI have read the Artemis Fowl series, but I prefer the earlier books in the series, wasn't too keen on the ending.
Alice In Wonderland is mad but I love it too! The Secret Garden holds a magic and I did enjoy A Little Princess but in this rare case I prefer the film (probably because I loved the film years before I read the book!)
I've never read Pippi Longstocking or anything by Astrid Lindgren. I'll have to have a look.

My all-time favorites are Where the Wild Things Are and Anne of Green Gables, but right now I'm loving reading the Olivia books with my daughter!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite children's books are the Harper Hall trilogy by Anne McCaffrey and the Narnia books by C. S. Lewis. I read both sets to my younger siblings and am starting the Narnia ones with my 4 year old now.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite childrens book was Lassie anything about Lassie, I keep getting new books for my granddaughters to read I think they would encoy Percy Jackson, so in the future someone may ask what is their favorite book and they can answer. I also loved Heidi

ReplyDeleteOh the world of children's books...ever growing and ever adding to my list of favorites. ^_^ One of my favorites of more recent times would have to be THE GIRL WHO CIRCUMNAVIGATED FAIRYLAND IN A SHIP OF HER OWN MAKING...the title is a riot and the story is FABULOUS. So is boko 2...in case you were wondering. Happy Children's Book Week everyone! ^_^

My favourite middle grade book was The Borrowers. I also loved Boxcar Children, Bobbsey Twins, Trixie Belden.
