Book Review - Fallen

Synopsis
There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

My Review
I was always drawn to this book, something about the cover pulled me in, and the story sounded intriguing so i went for it. Luce has a very troubled past and sees shadows hovering about her, she is sent to Sword & Cross boarding school where every move is monitored and all the other students are weirdos. It took me a long time to get into the book, but when i did i really enjoyed it. Lauren Kate sets up the characters really well, giving you just enough information to get an idea of who they are, but not enough to really know what they are truly like or capable of, therefore making you think about why they do certain things and what their motives are. I found the idea of lovers from another life time quite interesting, but then saying that found Luce a bit whiny, does she like Daniel, or maybe Cam, but he ignores her, he's sweet, etc etc. felt like slapping her and telling her to get over herself. However when the book reached it's climax i was really into the book, staying up quite late so i could finish it. The book comes to a good stop, but nothing is really resolved and so leaves you hanging on waiting for the next book. which i will read. I would say this book was an ok read, definitely worth a look at, but not really worth raving about. If you are into the whole gothic fiction, vampires/angels/demons etc then you will love this book. I'd say a good one time read and ok to dip back to if bored.

My Rating
I would give this book a 6/10, an ok read but nothing to rave about, fairly interesting but not the best, good enough to want to read book 2, lets hope it gets better!
