This week's question feature is
Fiction Predictions

Q: What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

My Answer: This is actually quite similar to last weeks question. Erm what puts me off? Editing/grammar mistakes really get to me, for the amount of checks a book goes through before it's released there shouldn't be any mistakes.

I don't like time travel, as soon as a book goes down that route I feel my spirit dying a little and I want to put it down. (although if it is done extremely well and in a way that doesn't confuse, I can read it)

I'm not a fan of Historical, if I pick up a book and the blurb says 'in the year 1254, 1793, etc' I tend to put it back.

Happy Hopping & Blogging. :D

I'll never understand how books by the big publishers still end up with the odd typo. I mean, if i pick it up, shouldnt the editors???

Editing mistakes bother me too but as long as I get it, I ignore it. I hate time travel also but I have read a slim few I liked.

New network blog follower!

I have a pet peeve when there are inconstant details. I read a book one where the hero took his shirt off twice within a couple of pages. How did they not catch that??

Historical fiction is actually one of my favourite things to read--I love looking at the past and what life was like back then. I don't read much though, and when I do it tends to be more steampunk or has paranormal/fantasy elements.

I tend to be tolerant of most things, though Time travel is something that can annoy me. It has to be REALLY good to keep my interests.

I'm already following you via GFC and am too lazy to post a link to my blog or anything. Anyway, happy reading!

I can definitely understand time travel being off-putting for a reader who doesn't seek it out. New follower, check me out at:

Hi there,
I'm an old follower ;) I totally feel you about the grammar mistakes. Although I make them (probably more of them than I realize), I like for my books to flow. Extra words or commas always kinda throw me off.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Time travel is hard to do properly and as a scientist - I look for the mistakes. I've found one in every book, so I agree on that one.

Ditto on editing too.

Trish - I haven't read the Time Travelers Wife. I did watch the film and it did confuse me though, so not a fan really no.

Welcome Shakira! and thanks Christina. :)

Glad you agree Lani Sku. I often think I should get a job as a proofreader. ;D

Thanks Book Blondes - definitely has to be a certain way before I will read it.

Agreed Lyra.

Amanda P - that is shocking, I hate it when that happens. Surely they would have grasped that on at least one of the read throughs!

Thanks Beczy - yeah Paranormal historical is better, but I think I prefer present/future stories. Thanks for visiting. :D

Thanks and Welcome Anna. ;)

Welcome back Ninja Girl. :D
Grammar mistakes can really interrupt reading experience. I certainly make a lot when writing, but that's what the editing process is for! :D

Julie - it does take a lot to get right and I end up disliking most which is why I tend to avoid them.
Thanks for following.

Have a good weekend all!
