FF (55) & TGIF (38)

Follow Friday is an opportunity to discover and follow other book related blogs! Want to join? Check it out at Parajunkee.

This week's question feature is from
Progress & Procrastination

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

My Answer: I am going to throw the boat out here, because if I really look at the books I count as my favourites, they are all very different. Some have kick ass heroins, others have that character that starts off seemingly weak but strives to achieve and works hard. Some have animals as main characters whilst others are funny coming of age. There isn't really a set characteristic for why I like a book. The only thing that they share is the love of a good story, an invitation to their world where you can immerse yourself in the book. :D

This Friday's Question:

Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?

My Answer: I will fully admit, a lot of the time when I am looking around I will go 'ooh pretty cover' and then pick it up to have a closer look. I then always read the synopsis/blurb on the back to see what it's about. That then has to grab me and make me want to read it.

I look at the author, if it's someone I know I have read and enjoyed before then I will pick it up.

I also like it when bookshops/libraries have displays up, if they are recommending it, maybe I should look at it.

Another way I look through is on Amazon where if you are looking at a book and you scroll down the page it will have a selection of 'similar books', or 'books you might like', I very often find good books there.

Happy Hopping, have a great weekend everyone!!!

P.S  - New Hunger Games trailer- EPIC!!!!! I cannot wait until March, this is going to be so awesome. I was literally crying at this new trailer. As soon as Katniss says "take care of them Gale, whatever you do, don't let them starve." OMG my heart is breaking. I'm gonna be a nervous wreak in the cinema.

Hi! Old follower hopping through.

I'm much the same as you - there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to my favourites shelf! I just know that when I love a book, I really love it! haha.

Have a great weekend!

I'm excited to see The Hunger Games too - it was such a fantastic book. And like you, the cover grabs my attention but the blurb is what will make me read it.

Agreed. I almost always pick up a book because of it's cover, THEN I read the blurb and see if it's something I really want to read.

A good story -- that's the perfect criteria. Sometimes it doesn't really matter if the heroine can kick butt or if the male is swoony if there's a good story. :) Library and bookstore displays also are totally interesting; it always intrigues me to see what they're promoting.

I hope you'll drop by and enter my giveaway to win one of three ARCs! :)

Hi, new follower here from FF. I too had to respond that there's really no common thread to the books that I read. Variety is much more interesting!

I agree with all of that! I love a good cover, and I also need to have a good author behind the book. New follower!
