Once again I could not get to America to attend BEA. Maybe one day I will be able to afford it, but right now it's out of my reach, so instead once again I am taking part in Armchair BEA.
So to kick off the event we have an introduction post, a sort of get to know you post. We have been asked to answer 5 questions from a provided list of 10. You can find the Agenda for events here and the list of full questions here.
So without further ado, here is my answers
1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name is Becky, I am currently 23 and I work in a Public Library and I love my job. I started blogging just under 2 years ago. Sometimes it feels longer and sometimes I still feel quite new at all this. I got into blogging on a bit of a whim. I wanted a place to talk about books, share my passion and keep a record of what I was reading. When surfing the internet I came across a couple of book blogs and thought they looked like great fun and part of an awesome community, so I set one up too. I honestly had no idea what I was doing, no experience with html or proper review formats. But I was determined, and it's one of the best things I've ever done. :D
2. What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
I literally just finished my book before I logged on. I was reading 'The Gathering Dark' by Leigh Bardugo. It was an ARC I had been sent and I absolutely loved it. Really gets back into sort of old world fantasy, epic journeys etc. I didn't expect to liek it but it was fab. I want more. My full review should be up later tonight. :D
My next read is 'Night Sky' by Jolene Perry. Not sure what to expect but I love the cover.
My favourite book read so far this year is 'The Night Circus' by Erin Morgenstern. Not my usual read but it was amazing, I really want my own copy. It was just so whimsical and entrancing. Breath-taking.
3. If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
There are so many answers to this question, so many people I would love to meet and have dinner with. But if I could just choose one, it would have to be J.K Rowling. I bet she's a popular answer but her Harry Potter books have inspired and captured so many hearts. It would be amazing. She really is an incredible lady but in her writing and her generosity and courage.
4. What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
Again so many answers to this. I would absolutely love to go to visit Roald Dahl's workshop/shed, that would be totally inspiring, a real experience. His stories have been loved by so many and they are so wacky and unique. I would of course love to attend BEA, and next year I am hoping to attend the Hay Festival in Wales.
5. Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?
Definitely, I was a bit more picky about what I would read. Growing up I was addicted to animal books - Animals of Farthing Wood, Animal Ark etc. Then my interests spread to Harry Potter and other fantasy books, particularly if they had dragons in, but since being in the blogging community I have started reading more paranormal, contemporary and the occasional mystery and historical. I have found some fantastic books that I never would have read otherwise, and for that I truly thank the blogging community.
Thanks for visiting and reading. I hope we all have a fantastic week celebrating Armchair BEA. Check back throughout the week for more posts. :D
