Book Review - Seriously... I'm Kidding

Title: Seriously... I'm Kidding
Author: Ellen Degeneres
Publisher: Warner Books Inc
Release Date: 25 Sep 2012
ISBN-13: 978-0446585040

Synopsis
"Sometimes the greatest things are the most embarrassing." Ellen Degeneres' winning, upbeat candor has made her show one of the most popular, resilient and honored daytime shows on the air. (To date, it has won no fewer than 31 Emmys.) Seriously... I'm Kidding, Degeneres' first book in eight years, brings us up to date about the life of a kindhearted woman who bowed out of American Idol because she didn't want to be mean. Lively; hilarious; often sweetly poignant.

My Review
I am a huge Ellen Degeneres fan, I waste countless hours in the evening watching videos on youtube, laughing my head off and I record her TV show every day so I don't miss it whilst at work. She has such a bubbly life force and an amazing heart. She is so generous and caring, I love her spirit.
She mentioned this book on her show a couple of times and it sounded good so I put a request in at the library. It actually came in pretty quick and as it is only 241 pages I knew it would be a quick read.
This isn't really an autobiography, it's more a book of anecdotes and jokes. Some pages have a couple of words on, some are proper chapters. I knew the book was more 'wit and humour' before I started so I knew what to expect. I've seen some reviews that have said they were disappointed as they expected more information about her life, but if you take this book for what it is, it's actually enjoyable and funny in places. I didn't laugh as much as I hoped I would but it certainly has Ellen's charm. You can certainly tell she wrote it.
I read it in a couple of hours and didn't want to put it down.  It doesn't really tell you anything vital but it's amusing and perfect for fans.
Good for a lazy day read if you want something quite light.

Sounds like fun, but I also think it would be great to read an autobiography/memoir from her. Very interesting I am sure.

Yeah I would like to read an autobiography too, think it would be very interesting. But she is quite private with her life. Maybe one day. :D
