Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a
book? For example, if an author employs an omnipotent narrator that is
sometimes considered bad form.
My Answer: I'm not easily annoyed to be fair. The insta-love does bother me a bit if not done well.
The latest thing I've noticed in a lot of books is that the story starts really well and builds - leading you to this great villain/ danger they have to beat and then the villain is revealed and its - The Devil. It seems so overdone and such a weak way out. There has got to be a better alternative, use your imagination people! Don't just fall back on that, come up with something original.

Huh...I haven't really encounter many books that have that kind of ending. Maybe it's the newer fiction, which I'm not reading right now?
