FF (81) & TGIF (64)

Follow Friday is an opportunity to discover and follow other book related blogs! Want to join? Check it out at Parajunkee.

This week's question feature is
Zabet @ Reading Between Classes

Q: Do your reading habits change based on your mood? Do you read a certain genre if you are feeling depressed or happy?

My Answer: I think my habits do change yeah. When I'm stressed or a bit down I like light books, sort of chick lit/contemporary. Something I don't really have to think too hard about. When I'm happy I can pretty much read anything I like, but tend to go for the longer fantasy books as I have to be in the right mindset to read them. I like long books but they can be daunting! So a light mood can life me along.

This Friday's Question:

Book Olympics: In the spirit of the Olympics, which books would you give the gold, silver, and bronze medals to? It can be from any genre, new or old.

My Answer: this is really like picking your top 3 favourite reads isn't it? I always find that hard. My games are competitive and like the Olympic there is more than one category

(instead of 'sport' they will be genres). Here are the Final 5 rounds

First up we have the Epic Fantasy round:

In third place winning a Bronze Medal is:

The Gathering Dark by Leigh Bardugo. Loved the imagination and world created here.

In second place winning a Silver Medal is:

Eragon by Christopher Paolini. Just A-Ma-Zing!

In First Place winning the Gold Medal is:

A Touch Of Power by Maria V Snyder. She is Epically awesome, and this story if totally addictive.

Next we have the Awesome Contemporary round:

In third place winning a Bronze Medal is:

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson. I loved this book, moving and fun!

In second place winning a Silver Medal is:

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler. This book had me laughing and crying.  Couldn't get enough

In First Place winning the Gold Medal is:

Sarah Dessen, can't just pick one. I love her books. She is a Marvel!

Next we have the Dystopian round:

In third place winning a Bronze Medal is:

Matched by Ally Condie. Scary but likely. Very well written.

In second place winning a Silver Medal is:

Divergent by Veronica Roth. The whole world created was captivating.

In First Place winning the Gold Medal is:

The Hunger Games trilogy. Can you get more awesome? I think not!

Next we have the Blood Sucking Vampire round:

In third place winning a Bronze Medal is:

The House of Night series by P.C & Kristin Cast. Started off very strongly, and set up a good world.

In second place winning a Silver Medal is:

The Embrace series by Charlotte Blackwell. Man this lady is Epic. She certianly knows how to spin a tale.

In First Place winning the Gold Medal is:

The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine. Best. Vampire. Books. EVER!!! Myrnin Rocks!

Lastly we have the 'I'm Breathless' round:

This round is for books that could cross some genres but that I still adore and feel they need to be mentioned.

In third place winning a Bronze Medal is:

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. Just amazing, so much detail and imagination.

In second place winning a Silver Medal is:

The Agents of Evil Series by Megan Duncan. sort of a Dystopian/end of the world/horror. Just pure awesomeness!

In First Place winning the Gold Medal is:

The Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling. Come on, this one had to be mentioned! Can't not put it in there. :D

Special Commendation also goes to Alexander Gordon Smith, Derek Landy, Michelle Paver (Wolf Brother series), Josephine Angelini, & L.A Meyer (Bloody Jack series)

That's it for this year's Book Olympics. Well done to all authors involved. We salute you all!!!!
