Hurricane - a young adult paranormal
romance/urban fantasy
I anxiously looked around, my heart palpitating, just in time to see an
alligator slink into the green algae covered water that was on either side of
us. I swallowed hard, and my heart raced even faster. Alligators were a
different type of predator—the one thing I was afraid of. Now I was on my own
personal swamp tour. What if my kidnappers left me in the middle of a swamp
with five of them creeping up on me? I’ve had that nightmare before and—oh no,
if my dreams really are a sign of the future—I couldn’t breathe now.
Adriana couldn’t decide what was worse—that Hurricane Katrina was heading for New Orleans, or that she might not survive her kidnapping to see its potential effects. She had trusted Hayden, even fallen for him, and now he and his brother Luke were taking her deeper and deeper into the Bayou. Why had two of her classmates, the mysterious Boudreaux brothers, kidnapped her? Why had Adriana’s dreams started predicting the future? Most importantly, would she make it out of the Bayou alive…
How awesome does that sound? Can't wait.Adriana couldn’t decide what was worse—that Hurricane Katrina was heading for New Orleans, or that she might not survive her kidnapping to see its potential effects. Jenna-Lynne has been very kind and answered some questions for me, so here is the interview:
1) Tell us about Hurricane:
Hurricane
is a young adult novel and the first in a brand new
series. It follows Adriana Alexander, a psychic teen who is kidnapped by her
two classmates, the mysterious Boudreaux brothers. Hurricane Katrina approaches
New Orleans and as the three evacuate Ana encounters severe weather, deadly
competition, and two unlikely suitors. The book is complete with a touch of
voodoo and a vengeful ghost, and Adriana’s eventual return to the devastated
city she loves. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New Orleans
Habitat for Humanity.
2) What did you want to be when you were
younger?
I wanted to become a doctor and was
planning on going to Medical school. That is until I took Anatomy in high
school. Apparently, I don’t do well with blood although I can write about it. I
just wanted/want to do something that can help people.
3) Who was your favourite childhood author? and who is it now?
Books I really like when I was younger was
Holes by Louis Sachar, Griffin and Sabine, and Brave New World. I also loved
all the classics. Today, there are a lot of really good authors out there; I
don’t like to pick favorites!
4) Do you listen to music while you write?
I like the idea of having a playlist for a
novel. I have one for Hurricane and will
probably do so with the other novels in the series.
ooh I hope you share the playlists, it's a great way of discovering new music and another way to get a feel for the novel
5) Where do you do most of your writing?
I write anywhere/everywhere I can bring my
laptop. Sometimes I don’t even have that just a scrap of paper to jot down
ideas.
6) Do you have any tips for aspiring authors?
Sure! Write often, read more than you write
and you’re never too young to write.
Thanks again, Becky!
