My Review
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this book sounded really interesting, a twist on the current paranormal genre so I accepted a copy. I have a pile of books to review so it took me a while to get round to this one, but last night I sat on my computer and thought 'I have ten minutes to spare, I'll make a start.' well instead of sitting for ten minutes I was there for almost an hour and had read 100 pages. I had to leave it there as it was getting late, but really wanted to read the rest so I opened it tonight and have finished it. In total it too me just over 2 hours to read.
Lia has always been different, prone to nightmares and night wanderings she was passed through many foster homes as a child. She has more control now but still knows she is different. She meets a boy named Ryan at school, something about him is different and for the first time in a long time she is opening up to him and making friends. Now part of a group, Lia can feel her life changing, but what if having friends only brings more danger. Ryan and her friends help Lia discover more about her past and what she really is. This book offers a great mix of werewolves, witches, vampires, magic and mystery and there is even a love story. It really does have everything.
The writing is easy to read and flows well, with good pacing and descriptions. `the imagery is good and i could picture everything that was happening. Ryan is sweet and caring, whilst Adam is strong and mysterious. I like Kima, you're never quite sure where you stand with her, but you see her grow throughout the book.
Lia is a great heroin, she's not full of herself, she has self doubt but she doesn't moan or back down, she is willing to fight for what she wants and has a good sense of justice.
I hope there is a second book coming out, because I want more.
My Rating
I would give this book 9.5/10. A magical, mysterious read that will have you devouring the pages.
